Billing Policies

General Billing Policy

I charge a flat hourly fee for all professional services including review of records, interviews, preparation of reports, consultation and testimony.  Time out of the office for travel is billed at the same rate.  Arrangements for lower rates for travel over 75 miles from the office or overnight may be arranged.  Lower rates may also be arranged for special needs on a case by case basis.  Contact me for my current hourly rate.

The time needed for a full evaluation depends on the volume and nature of the records, time needed for interview(s), complexity of the issues to be addressed, number of questions to be addressed, causation, etc.  As a rough guideline, a psychiatric IME that includes substantial records, causation and a comprehensive report usually takes 8 to 10 hours.

Payment in advance is usually required when working with a new referral source.  Once a working relationship is established, I bill as the work is completed.

Late cancellation/No Show Policy

A late cancellation charge is made for cancellations made 48 business hours or less before the appointment.  No show fees may be charged if the examinee arrives more than an hour after the scheduled appointment.  For late cancellations and no shows, I charge for one hour of time plus any time for lengthy phone calls and review of records.  I am willing to discuss special cases and modify this if justified (serious snow/ice conditions, documented illness, etc.).

Fixed Price Policy

I am willing to set a fixed price for an evaluation if needed.
