Carlyle Voss, M.D.

Dr. Voss has had over 30 years of forensic psychiatric experience.  He has consulted on over 2500 civil and criminal cases.  He was a part time medical advisor for a large commercial disability insurance company for nine years.  Referrals have been approximately 50/50 from plaintiffs/prosecution and defense.

Dr. Voss received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine.  He completed psychiatry training at the New York State Psychiatric Institute (Columbia) in 1971.  He then joined the Department of Psychiatry at Maine Medical Center (MMC) in Portland, Maine.

Dr. Voss was employed at MMC for 31 years.  There he treated and supervised treatment of hundreds of patients with a wide variety of psychiatric disorders.  At different times he was Director of Outpatient Psychiatry, Inpatient Psychiatry, and Psychiatric Research.  He was Assistant Chief and Interim Chief of Psychiatry.  He is currently Director of Forensic Psychiatry at MMC.  He has had a part time private practice from 1971 to the present.

Dr. Voss is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Forensic Psychiatry.  He is a Distinguished Life Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association and is a Clinical Professor with Tufts School of Medicine.
